Your tires leave a trail of dust in the air. The crunch of your tires on the small stones is the only sound you hear, along with your labored breathing. You skid for a moment and at the last minute, you veer off to the left. 50 meters ahead, you just catch a glimpse of a moose crossing the gravel road. That’s gravel biking in Glaskogen Nature Reserve.
With almost exclusively gravel paths, Glaskogen Nature Reserve is a paradise for gravel bikers. Bring your own bike, and when the snow disappears in April, a very extensive network of gravel roads will emerge, allowing you to enjoy beautiful short and challenging long gravel bike rides. Not only is the nature park filled with rolling gravel paths, but the roads in the surrounding region are also largely gravel.
Since the roads are almost never flat, it’s a wonderfully challenging area where you always gain elevation. And if you come outside of the peak season? Then you have all these roads to yourself. Well, maybe you’ll see a moose or a few deer.
The routes you can ride take you through varied forests, and of course, in a nature park with 80 lakes, you’ll frequently have views over the clear waters. Bring a small towel and you can take a refreshing dip on warm days.
In the accommodation, everything you need as a gravel biker is available. A cleaning area for your bike, tools to perform any repairs, and secure storage. Hungry after the long ride? There’s a pizzeria and a supermarket just 500 meters from the apartments!
Under the name Glava Gravel Challenge, we organize fully supported gravel biking weeks from our accommodation. Discover the most beautiful routes and more on our dedicated Gravel Website!
